It gives me immense pleasure in welcoming you all to the world of management education. On behalf of the entire J.D. Birla Institute - Department of Management, I congratulate you all for succeeding and choosing BBA (Honours) program at JDBI for your professional education.

J. D. Birla Institute established in June 1962, celebrated more than 50 years in service to higher education. Earlier in 2010, J. D. Birla Institute was awarded the highest possible grading of “A” by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Institute with all its departments is affiliated to Jadavpur University, a world renowned Center of Excellence. In just a decade, the Department of Management gained recognition as a premier educational Institute and its BBA (Honours) course is ranked as one the best in eastern region. Bachelor in Business Administration or BBA, as it is more popularly known, is one of the most sought after courses in today’s world. The candidates who have successfully completed their course in BBA have excellent career prospects particularly in the area of Finance, Marketing, Human resource, Information Systems etc.

The first two years of the BBA (Honours) course forms the foundation of business administration. The final year allows the students to specialize in their specific field of management as opted by the students. The program incorporates within its ambit an internship and project work to enable the students to apply their classroom teaching to real life situation. Our integrated approach toward a relevant, cross-functional curriculum strikes a balance between theory and real life through live case studies, experiential activities, class discussions, term paper and dissertation. This approach will let you analyze the impact of your solutions across all organizational functions.

Academic rigour and Discipline is at the core of the JDBI BBA. There are nearly 36 subjects spread over the 6 semesters. It covers diverse subjects like Business Principles, Micro & Macro Economics, Operations Management, Marketing Management, Business Accounting, Finance, Organizational Behavior, HRM Computer Organization & Architecture, Computer Networking. There are also subjects like Project Management, Strategic Management, Quality Management, Operation Management etc which gives a holistic outlook. Besides the above, the students does advanced courses in Marketing and Finance in the third year, depending on the students choice of specialization.

JDBI focuses on promoting value based education to produce ethical managers, leaders and entrepreneurs. There are two full courses to focus on this area viz., on Management by Human Values & Corporate Ethics. Another unique aspect of the programme is a course on Ecology & Environment management which focuses on the Environmental aspects and responsibilities of doing business, which is increasingly gathering importance in the changing global scenario.

Apart from academic input, the student are also provided with industry exposure through various projects, different industrial visit and with the lectures from senior Industry people, keeping them in pace with the actual situations in the corporate world.

The JDBI BBA program, promises to spearhead the education of a new generation of business people. The course in partnership with the circle of highly qualified set of full time faculties and great set of eminent persons as visiting faculty both from academia and industry, is designed to prepare the students to excel for practical work in a challenging global environment.

Emphasis on co-scholastic activities is also being planned to increase from this session. Classes in normal class schedule shall be allotted for Debates , Elocution, Group discussion, Extempore etc. Classes shall also be allotted for building the General Knowledge and aptitude of our students. A study tour on Team Building and Leadership is also undertaken and is an integral part of the programme.

The program is designed to be a gateway to achieve success and make you ready for the global competition and challenges. We wish that student from our institute, aspire to join leading post-graduate management institutes in India like IIMs, MDI , XLRI etc or leading institutes in USA, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong etc.
